Knife used to kill monks recovered

The knife, that was used to kill the two monks at the Kotte Raja Maha Viharaya was found near the temple a short while ago. One of the suspects, who was an ex-monk from Embilipitiya, had show where he threw the knife after committing the crime, police said.

They said that the suspect had been brought to the scene of the crime this morning by the police investigators and he had show the police how he had carried out the crime that night.

The suspect had told police that the murders were carried out in a bid to steal a historical sword that belonged to the temple. (M.S.Perera)
