Video: Easy cash, easy job, easy go

Police investigations had been launched to arrest a group that had allegedly swindled money from several people through easy cash payments (mobile) scheme on the assurance of giving them job opportunities.

Police Spokesman SSP Ajith Roahana  said several people had lodged complaints against the culprits who had published advertisements in the weekend papers claiming to give jobs as heavy vehicle drivers at various harbours and other companies.

The fraudsters had asked the people who had contacted them to easy cash Rs.2,500 to make identity card for the new job and asked them meet at a harbour nearby.

The ring had also said an employ could earn as much as Rs. 4000 to Rs.5000 daily up to about Rs. 150,000 a month.

It was reported offenders could not be contacted after several hours.

Police warned the general public not to pay money through easy cash without meeting job providers in person. (Sanath Desmond)
