Diyawadana Nilame wins defamation case

The Colombo District Court today ordered an organization called the Organization for the Protection of National Wealth to pay Rs. 50 million to the Diyawadana Nilame of the Dalada Maligawa Nilanga Dela as damages for defamation.

Judge Dhammika Ganepola gave this order following a case filed by Diyawadana Nilame Nilanga Dela that his reputation has been damaged due to the allegation that some of the gold plated Buddha Statues had gone missing from the Dalada Maliwaga. (FT)
