Cricketers to be paid dues

Sri Lanka’s unpaid cricketers are to receive their full dues by the end of this month, after Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage secured the release of Rs.600 million from the Bank of Ceylon for this purpose, the Sports Ministry announced today.

Following discussion between the Sports Minister, officials of the BoC and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), and the subsequent release of these funds, Minister Aluthgamage instructed Sri Lanka Cricket to pay the salaries up to the month of February 2012, by February 28, 2012.

The Minister also stated that payments for the month of March would be made on time and had also instructed SLC to ensure it does not overlook any future contract payments. (Shehan Daniel)
