Case against Hirunika?

A case will be filed against Hirunika Premachandra for the contempt of court making statements on the court’s inquiries regarding the shooting at Mulleriyawa case, Counsel to MP Duminda Silva, Hemantha Warnakulasuriya stated today at the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.

He further said that such statement made by the daughter of late Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra could be harmful for the integrity of the court.

In reply to this, the lawyer of the wife of Bharatha Lakshman stated there were no such statements made by Hirunika against the court and in fact she had made statements about the inefficiency of the CID regarding the arrest of Duminda Silva.

He also said he would take this matter to the International Court. Acknowledging this the magistrate while stigmatizing the CID stated that the court could only make orders and carrying out them rests with the respective authorities.

He said the CID should take immediate action regarding the matter and the court would not be held responsible for that.
