Ariyawathie released

Deputy Chairman of the Eastern Provincial council, Ariyawathi Galappaththi who was remanded last week for threatening court officials of the Trincomalee court was released today. The Trincomalee magistrate released Mrs. Galapaththi on a 50,000 Rupee bail and two sureties to the value of 200,000 Rupees. She was also asked to visit the Trincomalee harbour Police every fortnight.

The Magistrate told court that if any harm befalls the officials, that the Deputy Chairman initially threatened, her bail would be cancelled. (Amadoru Amarajeeva)
