Another Aussie bound boat load nabbed

At lease 53 people including two Indian nationals were arrested 60 nautical miles from the Eastern Coast when they were fleeing to Australia the Police said. The Navy had intercepted the boat that is suspected to have left from Batticaloa on the 10th of June, last morning and arrested all persons on board.

The suspects were handed over to the CID and initial investigations had revealed that 4 smugglers who are believed to have been responsible for the racket were also among the suspects. The suspects were produced before the Hambanthota magistrate last evening and were remanded till the 20th of June
