Feb.09 (Mirror Sports) - Zimbabwe got their T20 World Cup campaign off to a flying start with an emphatic eight-wicket win over Oman at Colombo’s Sinhalese Sports Club.
Brian Bennett starred with an unbeaten 48 off 36 balls, guiding the Chevrons past Oman’s modest total of 103 in just 13.3 overs. Blessing Muzarabani set the tone early, ripping through Oman’s top order with 3-16, while Richard Ngarava and Brad Evans finished with three wickets each.
Oman never recovered from a disastrous start of 27-5, though Sufyan Mehmood (25) and Vinayak Shukla (28) managed a brief 44-run partnership to add some respectability. Nadeem Khan hit their only six before being brilliantly caught by Bennett.
Zimbabwe briefly lost momentum when Brendan Taylor pulled up with a hamstring injury on 31, leaving skipper Sikandar Raza to hit the winning runs.

Breaking: Munsey Blasts 84 as Scotland Smash T20 Record
Scotland’s Michael Leask and George Munsey starred as the team thrashed World Cup debutants Italy by 73 runs at Eden Gardens.
Munsey, dropped on 40, smashed 84, while Leask’s late blitz of 22 from the final five balls helped Scotland post 207-4 — their first 200+ total at a men’s T20 World Cup and the highest by an associate team in the tournament.
Leask carried his momentum into the field, removing opener Justin Mosca with the first ball, as Munsey took a stunning diving catch. Despite a 73-run stand between Ben and Harry Manenti, Italy fell behind the required run rate and were bowled out for 134 in 16.4 overs. Leask finished with impressive figures of 4-17, Mark Watt took 2-24, and Munsey accounted for four catches.
Scotland (1-1) face England on Saturday, while Italy meet Nepal on Thursday.
