Woman killed after elevator collapse in Kadugannawa

A 26-year old woman was killed and another injured when an elevator collapsed at a factory at Pilimathalawa in Kadugannawa yesterday.

Police said an elevator carrying goods from a three storey building of a factory manufacturing polythene bags collapsed on a group of women while they were loading goods from the third floor, causing serious injuries.

The injured women were admitted to the Peradeniya Hospital where one of them succumbed to her injuries.

The deceased was identified as a resident of Balana. The Kadugannawa Police are conducting further investigations.(DSB)
