Colombo, January 22 (Daily Mirror)- United Republican Front (URF) leader Patali Champika Ranawaka queried about the fate of forensic audit regarding the e-Visa scam, as promised by Foreign Affairs Minister Vijitha Herath.

Making his remarks to the media, Ranawaka said that if not for legal action initiated by him along with MP Rauff Hakeem and former MP M.A. Sumanthiran, the entire scam which caused a loss of Rs. 3.2 billion would have been swept under the carpet.

He said the Public Finance Committee of Parliament asked for a forensic audit into this scam, and that Minister Herath had agreed to it ahead of the last general elections.

He said people have to endure a lot of hardships today to obtain passports.

“The government should take action against the e-Visa and e-passport fraudsters if it wants to prevent Clean Sri Lanka from becoming a Dirty Sri Lanka,” he said.
