Welikanda Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman removed

Welikanda Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Priyantha Kavindu Abeysooriya has been removed from his position with immediate effect.

He has been removed through an Extraordinary Gazette notification issued by North Central Province Governor Mahiepala Herath.

According to a report submitted by retired High Court Judge Saman Wickrama Wickramarachchi, the Chairman had committed offences in terms of Section 185(1) of the Pradeshiya Sabha Act.
