Veteran actress Hyacinth Wijeratne has died in a road accident last night.

Police said the van she was travelling in has plunged down a precipice at Lindula on the Hatton-Nuwara Eliya main road.

She had been heading to Colombo after shooting a teledrama when the tragedy occurred. (Ranjith Rajapakshe)
