Unvaccinated people prohibited from entering Bandarawela & Mannar

Unvaccinated people above 30 years of age will no longer be permitted to enter Bandarawela and Mannar Towns with effect from today (15), health officials said.

The decision has been taken by the respective District Coordinating Committees on Prevention of COVID-19.

Individuals who attempted to enter the two cities without the vaccination card were sent back by the Police and the security forces.

The roadblocks will be in operation at entry points of Bandarawela and Mannar in order to prevent unvaccinated people from entering the two cities.

According to health officials, the decision was taken to encourage those people who are still reluctant to receive the COVID vaccine. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
