Colombo, May 13 (Daily Mirror) - The United National Party (UNP) today said it was surprising to see President Anura Kumara Dissanayake extend his personal congratulations to the recently elected Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, C. Joseph Vijay.
"As a Head of State, protocol states that such congratulatory messages should be reserved for another Head of State and not for foreign Provincial/State leaders," the party said in a statement.
The UNP further questioned why President Dissanayake has not extended a similar congratulatory message to the newly elected West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari or Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
