May.26 (Mirror Sports) - Four members of the Sri Lanka Under-19 cricket team who were arrested over allegations of secretly filming several female doctors who were in the shower inside their room in a Colombo hotel are exploring the possibility of a settlement in the case, the Colombo Magistrate’s Court was informed.

When the matter was taken up before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court, the Narahenpita Police, who are conducting investigations into the incident, failed to submit the relevant reports to court.

Accordingly, the Magistrate directed the police to conclude their observations and submit the necessary reports on the next hearing date.

Senior Counsel Anton Senanayake, appearing for the first and second suspects who are alleged to have filmed the female doctors at a reputed hotel in Colombo 5, informed court that the defence was willing to explore the possibility of a settlement between the parties.

However, President’s Counsel Nalinda Indatissa, appearing for the aggrieved parties, informed court that his clients had not given any instructions regarding a settlement.

He further stated that clear instructions would need to be obtained from the complainants before any such move could be considered. Senior Counsel Ian Fernando, appearing for the third and fourth suspects who are alleged to have aided and abetted the incident, questioned the basis of the allegations against his clients.

He told court that he could not understand how the two principal suspects and the third and fourth suspects, who are accused of aiding and abetting, could together hold a single mobile phone to allegedly film the female doctors while they were bathing. The four suspects are currently out on bail and the magisterial inquiry was fixed for July 13.
