Two women promised to release gold kept as court proceedings arrested for defrauding Rs.3.6Mn

Two women who defrauded over Rs. 3.6 million promising  to get 70 sovereigns of gold released from the court, which were placed as court production, were arrested by the Kankesanthurai Special Crime Investigation Division.

Police said they launched investigations based on a complaint lodged on September 13, 2022 about a financial fraud amounting to Rs.3,694,000.

Aftermath of the police investigation, the two women involved in the fraudulent activities were arrested yesterday and handed over to the Nelliady Police Station.

The arrested suspects are 36 and 38-year-old, residents of Valvettithurai.

They would be produced before the Puthukkudiyiruppu Magistrate's Court. (DSB)
