Two nabbed with precious stones encrusted in Chaitya from treasure to be sold for Rs. 1bn

Two persons have been arrested with archaeological value Chaitya encrusted with precious gem stones suspected to have been unearthed from a treasure and preparing to sell for Rs. 1 billion.

According to the information received by the officers of the Special Task Force Special Operations Division, the STF conducted a raid yesterday  in Yatagama, Veyangoda.

Two suspects aged aged 22 and 34 years were arrested with Chaitya and handed over to Veyangoda Police Station for further investigation. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
