Two aircraft restored to SriLankan fleet; another due next year

Colombo, September 24 (Daily Mirror) - SriLankan Airlines announced that two aircraft, which had been grounded for a long period due to engine failures, have now been returned to service, while another aircraft is scheduled to rejoin the fleet early next year.

In a media release, the airline said it had also acquired an Airbus A330-200 wide-body aircraft on lease in June—the first wide-body addition in seven years. This acquisition has allowed the airline to expand its operations and strengthen connectivity.

Over the past year, SriLankan Airlines has enhanced its network and boosted revenue by reviewing flight routes, introducing demand-based scheduling, and upgrading digital sales platforms. To better serve the rapidly growing Indian market, the airline has also improved flight schedules to several cities, including Bangalore, Kochi, and Hyderabad.
