Trial against Kumara Jayakody to begin June 17

Colombo, May 6 (Daily Mirror) - Colombo High Court Judge Rashantha Godawela has fixed June 17 to commence the trial in the case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption against former Power and Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody.

Jayakody is accused of causing a loss of Rs. 8.8 million to the government in 2016 while serving as the Manager of Procurement and Imports at the Lanka Fertilizer Company.

Following the conclusion of the pre-trial conference, Judge Godawela announced that the hearing will begin on June 17.

The court also ordered that summons be issued to two prosecution witnesses to appear on that date.
