Feb.27 (Mirror Sports) - The Super 8 stage of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup is entering a crucial phase. Two semi-final spots are locked, but two more remain up for grabs — and the battle is on.

England & South Africa Through

England were first to punch their semi-final ticket with strong wins over Sri Lanka and Pakistan in Group 2. South Africa followed, dominating their Group 1 rivals to book their place in the last four.

With four semi-final spots in play, the tension is rising.

How the Super 8 Works

Eight teams made it to the Super 8, split into two groups of four:

  • Group 1: West Indies, South Africa, India, Zimbabwe
  • Group 2: England, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka

Each team plays the others in its group once. The top two from each group advance to the semi-finals. Winner of Group 1 faces runner-up of Group 2, and vice versa.

Group 1: India vs West Indies – Winner Takes All

South Africa are through. Zimbabwe were knocked out after losing to India on 26 February 2026. Now, India and West Indies clash on 1 March in a winner-takes-all showdown for the semi-final spot.

Group 2: Net Run Rate Could Decide Spot

England are safely through with two wins. New Zealand can seal their place with a win over England on Friday. If New Zealand lose, Pakistan can still sneak into the semis by beating Sri Lanka — but net run rate will then decide the final spot. Sri Lanka were eliminated after their 25 February loss to New Zealand.

With the final semi-finalist potentially coming down to net run rate, the Super 8 stage promises high drama right to the last ball. Two teams are through. Two spots remain. The road to the T20 World Cup final is heating up.
