Strict surveillance causes traffic at Welipenna interchange

Heavy traffic has been reported at the Welipenna interchange on the Southern Expressway towards Galle, police said.

It was reported that the congestion was reported due to the police conducting inspections near the provincial borders.

Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said that special security arrangements had been taken to check people who were violating provincial travel restrictions.

He said special search operations will be carried out at the exit/entry points at the provincial borders.(DSB)
