Colombo, June 16 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lankans wishing to travel to Israel or return from Israel to Sri Lanka can obtain short-term visas at border crossings near the city of Eilat and enter Israel via neighboring countries, Sri Lankan Ambassador to Israel Nimal Bandara said.
He said that due to the closure of Tel Aviv’s Ben-Gurion International Airport as a security measure amid the ongoing conflict, travellers can make alternative arrangements through Jordan and Egypt.
Ambassador Bandara said that Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, during a special briefing with ambassadors, confirmed that individuals unable to use Tel Aviv airport may access Israel by flying into Amman or Cairo and crossing the border by land.
He also said that no specific date has been announced for the reopening of Tel Aviv’s airport, given the current war situation. Those facing emergencies are advised to use these alternate routes.
