Colombo, May 19 (Daily Mirror) - Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa said yesterday that, because of the ultimate sacrifices made by the armed forces, the nation remains a single, undivided country.

Speaking on the anniversary of the war victory, the former President expressed his immense gratitude to the country’s war heroes, stating that the day marking the end of the conflict should never be forgotten.

When questioned about the current political climate and the lasting impact of the victory achieved years ago, the former President said despite ongoing political shifts, the crucial outcome has been the preservation of national peace.

“Regardless of political differences, the public continues to live in harmony,” the former President said.
