Colombo, March 12 (Daily Mirror) - Minister of Foreign Affairs Vijitha Herath held discussions with the Ambassador of Russia to Sri Lanka, Levan S. Dzhagaryan, on the possibility of purchasing Russian fuel.

The meeting took place this afternoon at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism amid disruptions to global fuel supply networks caused by ongoing conflicts in the Middle East. The discussions also followed the lifting of sanctions related to the purchase of Russian oil.

During the meeting, Minister Herath explored the possibility of importing Russian fuel as a measure to help maintain a stable fuel supply in Sri Lanka.

Ambassador Dzhagaryan agreed to immediately convey Sri Lanka’s request to the Russian government and assured that he would coordinate with the relevant Russian institutions to facilitate the necessary arrangements.
