Sri Lanka envoy presents credentials to Malaysian King Sultan Ibrahim

May 19 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Malaysia, Dharshana M. Perera, presented his Letter of Credence to His Majesty King Sultan Ibrahim at a ceremonial event held yesterday (18) at the Istana Negara (Royal Palace) in Kuala Lumpur.

The formal ceremony took place at the Dewan Singgahsana Kecil (Throne Room), where the High Commissioner conveyed greetings from Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Disanayaka, extending wishes for the King’s health and for the continued peace and prosperity of the Malaysian people.

In response, King Sultan Ibrahim conveyed his good wishes to President Disanayaka and the people of Sri Lanka, reaffirming the long-standing bilateral relations between Malaysia and Sri Lanka since 1957.

The King said that both countries have strengthened cooperation over the years in key sectors including trade, economy, and defence. He also highlighted recent high-level exchanges as evidence of both nations’ commitment to deepening ties in areas of mutual interest.

He further recalled his personal positive engagements with Sri Lanka prior to ascending the Malaysian Federal Throne.

High Commissioner Perera, in his remarks, reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s commitment to further strengthening the multifaceted relationship with Malaysia and expanding cooperation through continued high-level engagement.

The King also extended his best wishes to the High Commissioner for a successful tenure in Malaysia.

Earlier, upon arrival at the Istana Negara, High Commissioner Perera was accorded a General Salute by the Regiment Askar Melayu Diraja (Royal Malay Regiment), the principal ceremonial guard of Malaysia’s royal household.
