Colombo, May 19 (Daily Mirror) - A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Sri Lanka and Russia to enhance technical and investment cooperation aimed at improving Sri Lanka’s railway services.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum held in Kazan, Russia, where Leader of the House and Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development Bimal Ratnayake represented Sri Lanka.
Under the MoU, the Transport Ministry of the Russian Federation and Sri Lanka’s Transport, Highways and Urban Development Ministry agreed to cooperate in providing technical assistance for the development of Sri Lanka’s railway transport sector while also promoting investment collaboration.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dmitry Zverev, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, and Minister Ratnayake.
