Soldier killed, 5 more injured when fuel tanker collided with Army truck

An Army soldier was killed and 5 more soldiers were injured when a fuel tanker collided with an Army truck parked at Ambagaswewa area on the Padeniya - Anuradhapura road this morning.

The injured soldiers were admitted to Mahawa and Kurunegala hospitals.

A truck carrying seven Army personnel from Jaffna and Vishwamadu Army camps was parked on the roadside in the Ambagaswewa area on its way to the Ambepussa Army Camp.

The bowser collided with the truck while the troops were in the back of the vehicle.

The driver of the bowser vehicle has been arrested and police suspect that the accident may have been caused as the driver fell sleep on the wheel.(DSB)
