Shooting reported at Galle Prison following escape attempt

Colombo, May 3 (Daily Mirror) - A shooting incident was reported at the Galle Prison today, following a daring escape attempt by two inmates.

​According to the police, the situation escalated when two prisoners tried to flee the premises. 

Prison guards on duty opened fire to prevent the escape. In the ensuing confrontation, one of the inmates sustained gunshot injuries and was immediately rushed to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for emergency treatment.
