Jan. 31 (Mirror Sports) – Former Sri Lanka international Shehan Jayasuriya has been named in the USA’s squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, a week after scoring his 14th first-class century in Sri Lanka.
The 33-year-old all-rounder, who played 12 ODIs and 18 T20Is for Sri Lanka between 2015 and 2020, recently led Panadura with an unbeaten 100* in a three-day match against Kurunegala.
Jayasuriya, part of Sri Lanka’s 2016 T20 World Cup squad, moved to the USA in 2021 and played franchise cricket for the Seattle Orcas in Major League Cricket in 2023.
Although yet to debut internationally for the USA, his inclusion is a major boost ahead of their second T20 World Cup appearance. Pakistan-born Mohammad Mohsin is also included, with Monank Patel as captain and Jasdeep Singh as vice-captain.
The USA open their campaign against defending champions India on February 7, with Pakistan, the Netherlands, and Namibia also in their group.
