Severe lightning warning issued for several provinces

Colombo, May 18 (Daily Mirror) - The Department of Meteorology has issued a warning for severe lightning and thundershowers expected in several parts of the country after 1.00 p.m. today.

According to the advisory, thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and Eastern provinces, as well as in the Kurunegala district.

The Met Department also warned that temporary localized strong winds may occur during thundershowers.

The general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
