Services at ID office to resume from Monday: DRP Comm. General

After lifting the COVID quarantine curfew tomorrow, the Department for Registration of Persons (DRP) will resume its services on Monday (4),  Commissioner General, Viyani Gunathilaka, said.

He stated all branch offices and the Battaramulla head office will be opened for services on Monday.

Nevertheless, he said that the one-day service for issuing National Identity Cards (NICs) would not be available and requested the general public to hand over their completed applications to the relevant Grama Niladharis instead of submitting to the respective District Secretariat offices.

Completed NICs will be posted to the personal addresses mentioned in the applications.

However, priority would be given to those who want their IDs under urgent circumstances.

People who need IDs urgently, should contact the provincial NIC office banches and the head office via the following numbers within working days.
