SMS 1904 to manage home quarantined COVID patients in SP from today

The 1904 SMS facility, which was started in the Western Province (WP) to manage and provide information on COVID infected patients treated under home quarantined procedure, has been introduced to the Southern Province as well (SP) from today (2).

Initially this facility was only available in the WP and now extended to the SP from today onwards.

Immediate hospitalization of patients with respiratory distress as well as complications due to COVID infected patients with other symptoms are referred to appropriate treatment centres and asymptomatic patients are managed at home.

People who are suffering from COVID infection in the SP should send a text message to 1904 with their date of birth and address giving brief description of the symptoms.

Accordingly, the alphabet 'A' should be typed in English if there is a respiratory disorder and other complications. 'B' should be typed if there is fever and other symptoms, and English letter 'C' if there are no symptoms. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
