Colombo, May 19 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has rejected media reports claiming that the organization is facing a “financial crisis” following the appointment of the Cricket Transformation Committee.
SLC said that the Transformation Committee was appointed by the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs under Sections 32 and 33 of the Sports Law No. 25 of 1973, as amended. It noted that, under the relevant legal provisions, the powers, functions, administration, management, and control of the affairs and property of Sri Lanka Cricket, including its financial operations, vest with the appointed committee.
The board further stated that the appointment of the Transformation Committee was duly published in the Government Gazette, granting it full legal authority to act on behalf of SLC in all administrative and financial matters until a new Executive Committee is elected.
Accordingly, SLC rejected as false and misleading reports suggesting that the organization is unable to manage its finances or that its financial administration has been adversely affected.
Sri Lanka Cricket also confirmed that all day-to-day operations continue without interruption, including the timely settlement of payments to suppliers, service providers, employees, players, and other stakeholders.
