Colombo, March 20 (Daily Mirror)

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced that players seeking to participate in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) will only be granted No Objection Certificates (NOCs) upon successfully passing the board’s mandatory Physical Performance Test.

SLC said it is currently conducting an eight-week specialized physical training programme for all centrally contracted players, aimed at improving fitness levels ahead of upcoming international assignments.

As part of the initiative, players are also undergoing routine physical performance tests to assess whether they meet the required standards.

The board emphasized that only those who pass the tests will be cleared to play in the ongoing domestic tournament and be issued NOCs for the IPL.

Accordingly, Dushmantha Chameera, Pathum Nissanka and Kamindu Mendis have successfully completed their fitness tests and have been granted NOCs to take part in IPL 2026.

Meanwhile, Nuwan Thushara will receive clearance subject to the outcome of his physical performance test.

SLC further noted that Wanindu Hasaranga, Eshan Malinga and Matheesha Pathirana are yet to undergo the tests as they are currently undergoing rehabilitation for injuries. The players will face the fitness assessments once their recovery programmes are completed.
