Sri Lanka has received USD 10 million from the World Bank to purchase medicines, the Government Information Department said.

According to the Ministry of Health, there is a shortage of certain drugs and equipment in government hospitals and plans have been made to manage the issue and ensure a continuous supply of medicines.

They said that some medicines were in short supply due to the inability to open LCs due to lack of forex.

However,  LCs are being opened to import medicinal drugs and equipment from India under the Indian credit line, they said.
