SI arrested for attempting to solicit sexual bribe

A Sub Inspector attached to the Horana Police Station was arrested at Nambapana in Ingiriya by the Bribery Commission officials for attempting to solicit a sexual bribe from a woman.

Director (Investigations) of the Bribery Commission, SSP Padmini Weerasuriya, said the SI was arrested following a complaint lodged by a woman in Gonapola, Horana.

The Sub Inspector had allegedly solicit a sexual bribe from the woman in order to make the arrangements to obtain a receipt of a complaint lodged at the Police against her son.

The suspect was to be produced in the Horana Magistrate's Court. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
