Reduce electricity usage by 50% in EP Govt institutions: Governor

Eastern Province (EP) Governor Anuradha Yahampath yesterday urged all institutions that come under the Eastern Provincial Council to take immediate action to reduce their electricity usage by 50%.

The Governor made this announcement at a special discussion held between Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa and all provincial governors yesterday.

EP Governor Yahampath informed this to all heads of provincial government bodies on Monday (7) afternoon.

The Finance Minister advised all governors to take immediate action to cut down electricity tariffs of all provincial government institutions by a minimum of 20% and a maximum of 50%.

Accordingly, the EP governor ordered that the electricity usage be reduced from Monday (7). (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
