Red alert on thundershowers issued to eleven districts: Met Dept.

A red alert has been issued on heavy showers or thunderstorms to 11 districts, the Department of Meteorology said today.

They said more than 100 mm shower is forecast and expected to enhance over the southwestern part of the island, due to active Southwest monsoonal condition.

Heavy Showers or thundershowers could be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Northwestern provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.

As such, the 11 districts, are Puttalam, Kurunegala, Gampaha, Kegalla, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Colombo, Kalutara, Ratnapura, Galle and Matara to experience this shower conditions. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
