Rainfall over 100mm likely in several areas

Colombo, June 13 (Daily Mirror) - The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather advisory forecasting showers at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, and North-Western provinces. 

Accordingly, heavy rainfall of around 100mm is expected in some areas, particularly in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the districts of Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Galle, Matara, and Puttalam.

Meanwhile, several spells of showers may also occur in the Northern Province and in the Anuradhapura District.

The Met Department further warned of strong winds ranging from 50 to 60 kmph, especially over the western slopes of the central hills, and in the Northern, North-Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western, and Southern provinces, including the Trincomalee District.
