Probe underway into student’s death at Wayamba College

Colombo, May 26 (Daily Mirror) - Police have launched an investigation into the death of a second-year female student at the Wayamba National College of Education in Bingiriya.

According to police, the student was found dead in her dormitory on the evening of Friday, May 23. 

They have stated that preliminary findings indicate the student died by suicide.

Furthermore, police officials confirmed that statements have been recorded from several individuals, including lecturers and fellow students, as part of the ongoing inquiry.

Following the incident, police presented facts before the relevant court on Saturday. 

A magisterial inquiry is scheduled to take place to determine the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
