Prison officials meet Justice Minister

Colombo, June 23 (Daily Mirror) - Minister of Justice and National Integration, Harshana Nanayakkara convened a special discussion this morning with Prison Commissioners and all prison superintendents islandwide at the Ministry of Justice.

The meeting centred on several urgent challenges within the prison system, including severe overcrowding at facilities such as the Kalutara and Batticaloa prisons. 

The Minister also stressed the importance of enhancing facilities at alternative detention centres to ease congestion.
