Primary schools, except those within isolated areas to open on Jan. 11: Edu. Minister

The Education Ministry today decided to re-open all primary grades from 1 to 5 from January 11, 2021, except the schools in the Western Province, Education Minister Prof. G.L. Pieris said.

Addressing the media today, the minister said the schools in the isolated areas and in the Western Province will remain closed until further notice.

The schools will be opened according to the health guidelines, he said. 

Schools with Grade 6 to 13 were opened for academic activities on November 23. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
