Price of bread reduced by Rs. 10: Bakery Owners

The price of a 450gm loaf of bread will be reduced by Rs. 10 with effect from midnight today, All Island Bakery Owners' Association announced.

Addressing the media, ACBOA President N.K. Jayawardena said that the decision was taken considering the price reduction of wheat flour in the market.

"The price of a kilo of wheat was reduced by Rs.25," he said.

Accordingly, the price of a 450g loaf of bread will be Rs.170.

However, there will be no price reduction for other bakery items as there is no reduction in the egg price, Jayawardena said. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
