President directs officials to expedite urban development, irrigation projects

Colombo, June 6 (Daily Mirror) - During two progress review meetings on projects initiated by the Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation and projects implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake emphasized the need to expedite rural road development initiatives and irrigation projects. 

He instructed officials to prioritize their timely completion as part of the broader national infrastructure agenda.

At the discussion held today (6) at the Presidential Secretariat, officials provided updates on ongoing projects in the highways and transport sectors, highlighting both achievements and challenges encountered during implementation. 

Special attention was given to the progress of initiatives funded under the current budget.

Meanwhile, a progress review meeting on projects implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation under the financial allocations of the current Budget was also held today (6) at the Presidential Secretariat, under the patronage of President Disanayake.

The discussion focused extensively on various irrigation-related initiatives, including the Yan Oya, Gal Oya and Mahaweli projects, as well as the rehabilitation of minor reservoirs.

During the meeting, President Disanayake instructed officials to conduct close assessments of all projects being implemented under the current Budget and to ensure their prompt completion without delay.
