Colombo, May 11 (Daily Mirror) - The Power tariff hike will drive investors away while it has been act of subjecting them to extrusion, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said yesterday.
" It is large scale industrialists and upper middle class people who use more than 180 units . Therefore this is clearly an action of subjecting them to extrusion" Premadasa said in a special statement.
" The government always talks of foreign direct investments. Actually, the power tariff increase will drive away foreign investors " he added.
He said the tariff hike will also affect the small and medium entrepreneurs as well.
Furthermore, the opposition leader said the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka has turned down the proposal made by his party SJB to compensate Ceylon Electricity Board thought subjecting the inferior quality coal supplier to a fine.
" The government initially said there was no issue with coal but later admitted the scam " he also said.
