Poson week begins today with special arrangements for devotees

Colombo, June 7 (Daily Mirror) - Poson Week begins today, and all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the convenience and safety of devotees attending the National Poson Festival, Anuradhapura District Secretary K.P.R. Wimalasuriya said.

Speaking to the media, he said the Poson Week will continue until June 13, with the National Poson Festival centered around the sacred sites of Anuradhapura, Mihintale, and Thanthirimale.

As part of the preparations, a special mobile application has been developed to assist devotees during the Poson period. The app will help minimize traffic congestion and provide useful information for pilgrims.

The application will include details on available parking areas, locations of Dansals (free food stalls), first aid centers, and areas experiencing heavy traffic, Wimalasuriya said.

Authorities have urged the public to make use of the app and follow guidelines to ensure a peaceful and safe Poson celebration
