Poovarasankulam Police OIC remanded over bribery allegations

Colombo, May 27 (Daily Mirror) - The Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Poovarasankulam Police Station in Vavuniya was today ordered to be remanded till June 6 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali over allegations of soliciting a bribe.

The suspect, Anura Pushpakumara had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs. 500,000 and 20 perches of land to resolve a land dispute and facilitate the related work on the complainant’s property without obstruction.
