Police seek public help to arrest suspect in Thalangama double murder

Colombo, May 19 (Daily Mirror) - Police is seeking assistance to arrest a key suspect linked to the brutal shooting of a lawyer and his wife in Thalangama.

The double murder took place on February 16, 2026, at a supermarket parking area in Akuregoda, Thalangama.

Investigations have revealed that the suspect is believed to have acted as the driver of the getaway vehicle used by the gunmen involved in the attack.

Police have identified the suspect as Kaluarachchi Liyanage Niluksha Weerasinghe, aged 29, holder of National Identity Card (NIC) No. 199714103549, a resident of Weerasinghe Malkalawa, Paragoda, Imaduwa.

Police requested the public to provide any verified information regarding the suspect’s whereabout to the Director of the Western Province South Crime Division at 071-8592279 and the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) at 071-8596065.
