Colombo, August 4 (Daily Mirror) - The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) will conduct a public hearing tomorrow (5), to investigate the island-wide power failure that occurred on February 9, 2025.
The hearing will be held under Section 18 of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka Act No. 35 of 2002, allowing public participation in matters concerning utility regulation. It will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 07.
The PUCSL said the hearing follows a notice issued on May 22, 2025, and is part of a broader effort to identify the causes of the nationwide blackout and prevent similar disruptions in the future.
The Commission has invited public input and stakeholder participation, emphasizing the importance of transparency and accountability in the electricity sector.
