Sri Lanka has recorded a total of 23,744 Dengue cases in the first five months of 2025, according to the latest data from the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU).
The number of reported cases has been steadily increasing, with 3,766 cases in March, 5,166 in April and 6,042 in May.
The highest numbers have been recorded in the districts of Colombo, Gampaha, Ratnapura and Batticaloa.
Meanwhile, so far 13 Dengue-related deaths have been reported this year.
Health officials warn that the situation could worsen with the onset of the monsoon rains, which are likely to contribute to a further rise in mosquito breeding and infections.
